Some of us want to keep old machines that are currently worth only a couple hundred bucks, going, rather than purchase a piece of crap netbook to replace them. I've tried re-seat the RAM & in the BIOS (press F1), it detected the full 2GB RAM in the X61 : no joy with re-seating RAM 0 Message Active today So, it has nothing to do with the operating system (since it happens even without a hard drive inserted).
