The solution hasn't quite been reached yet, as in the let step "hp-setup", the software could not find the HPLaserJet printer 1018 connected at the usb. All programs are up to date. My HP Laserjet 1018 works like a charm now. The problem could be something specific to your Ubuntu setup.
