I nearly bought a new printer today but discovered HP no longer makes ANY printers using 02 ink since the "ink technology has vastly improved". Really bummed until I came across this site. I replaced it with a new cartridge and still get nothing from the black. I followed your direction and my printer is working againand that was for the C7280 and the "0xc18a0101" error. The tech had me press and hold the '*' key on the key pad, then press the '#' key and release them both. useful reference

I got the error code "0xc18a0205". this content THANKS! I went through the process you described and my printer is working perfectly again. This worked for me.
If you do your homework ahead of time, you can avoid getting a device that has poor reviews. I have been using ink other than sold by hp for a year. It's trying to move the carriage to clean the print heads, but it's making a lot of evil ratcheting sounds and the carriage will not transverse the print space. weblink My black stopped working suddenly with no error message.

So as a last resort, I did a complete breakdown of the entire ink system; flushing the pump and lines, cleaning the print heads, etc. The Exclamation point keeps flashing and the view screen only lights up.
