it keeps telling me that my magenta ink is almost empty, even though i have just replaced it with a new one! The fix seems to work more then once thus far! This solution helped me out. You must do this right after you do the system reset and pulling the plug. Now I can't get anything to print out. This is mostly from air trapped in the ink lines that happens when you run out of ink and fail to replace the ink before the printer does another ink reload. The reset many people are doing will work once without needing to replace the ink cartages. I tried this but I have a HP PhotosmartC6150 and it didn't work.

I am thinking about those reset refillable catrages for my printer- sounds like your having good luck with them. This will push out the trapped air that is giving you the error message. I will be replacing this printer rather than spending money on HP support.

Printed a test page and it worked.for the people that ask if the cartridges should be replace after or before the clear status procedure, what I did was follow the procedure, I have a HP 7280, many years old. I ran across this same problem with my C6180 this morning and knew I did not want to deal with HP's tech support in India.

I repeated the process and it was successful. Even though the post is from 2008, if was the exact fix for my printer. I get an Error Ink system has failed 0xc18a0206 and I have replace the ink cartidges and the error is not letting the printer work. I did twice and get the same error, does anybody have a clue, HP said to take it to get repaired.
