Of the possible causes, that's the part that gets the most wear and tear, and the most likely to fail under normal operating conditions. If you remove the toner cartridge to clean the cartridge area, do not leave the cartridge exposed to light or it will be damaged. I would strongly suggest considering updating your computer if at all possible. On some models pressing the Continue button on the control panel will resume operation.

The chip is a little bit difficult to get but if your're encouraged enough you can get it (after a lot of telephone talking) from your local hitachi distributor.
