We are having the same problem ourselves and I have 8 HP 1020 printers to support. I knew is not Microsoft's fault, at least not in this case. Anyway I got annoyed that HP would not admit to the problem and I decided to call Microsoft to ask them to remove the digital signature because HP would not own I like there printers but I am now soured on them as a company. have a peek here

The real solution First of, clear out any sign of the current HP 1020/1022 driver by removing it from the print spooler. Hp Laserjet 1020 Plus Driver BIG PAIN. Rebooting the computer obviously does not work, at least not until you clear the printer queues.

This will open the printers print queue where you should see that PDF job.
