I have a small collection of HP4500 (3 No.) and one of them gives the 54.2 error. Once you have all the print cartridges removed you will need to turn the printer on.8. The issues with the carousel rotation and the misplacement of the cartridges upon the printer devices would result in issues with the printer device called as printer error 54.2. I had a strange feeling about this machine.Driver installation was also a drama on a HP laptop (which was 1 week before reinstalled from scratch).

It seems to me if you used enough force, you'd hear some awful noises. only error 54.2, without carusel start running, without any poor noise. I can't believe its the carousel drive motor because the carousel turns freely and rotates by the motor as it tries to get it into the correct position. To move the carousel you need to have brake released, and then find a place on the carousel to spin it to the next cartridge holder.

The white alignment nubs on the white gears are washed out by the video light -- but you'll see them. Sometimes the LaserJet stops printing spewing out only white sheets.
