Output as MPEG-2 from Handbrake, hopefully it will get around whatever error that iDVD is encountering and won't include it in the resulting file. Hopefully my post will save someone a similar experience. On my old Macbook with OS 10.4, I had no problem including slideshows on a DVD with a movie. You solved it!! I did a search for iDVD, deleting all files that are not project (over 14,000 files!!) , then re-install from i-Life '09.
